Working as a playwright I came to know other early-stage writers trying to get their work noticed. As good as their writing was, their presentation was god-awful. Not that you expect a playwright to be Milton Glazer, but still. Posters designed in Word. Marginally relevant stock photography with the Dreamstime watermark front and center. It was bad.
So, I started my own boutique agency called Great Big Stuff, dedicated to helping these poor souls on the cheap. Here are a few examples:
BFF :: Branding/Social
The play BFF is a dark comedy I helped produce for the New York Theater Festival’s 2019 Winterfest where it was a finalist for Best Play.
The Short Version: Meet Alice, the loneliest person in New York City. Alice puts an ad on Craigslist and hits the roommate jackpot with Lola, who quickly becomes her new BFF. The one snafu in Alice’s new situation is that Lola happens to be a vigilante serial killer. So, what do you do when the best friend you ever had, your soulmate, has one small flaw. – think (films) Heathers meets American Psycho.
In addition to producing, I handled marketing – developing the look and feel, writing copy, creating the web site, one sheet, trailer, merch, and social marketing, including the chronicling of our completely real and definitely not faked takeover of Times Square.
